Compass

Tuesday, 7:45 pm; Locations Vary
Compass is made up of Clarendon's young professionals group (20s and 30s). We are currently using the Faithlink study published by Cokesbury to engage in conversation and study of current events and contemporary issues. We typically meet in a coffee shop near Clarenon or Ballston at 7:45 on Tuesday nights. We share coffee and conversation for the first fifteen minutes or so, then start on the study at 8, and finish by 9. Please join us! For more details, please e-mail clarendoncompass@yahoo.comemail icon.

Crusaders

2nd Floor, Room 307
The Crusaders, an adult co-ed class, follows a weekly study and discussion program based on regular Bible study, using the International Lesson Series. Care and concern for members and friends are a priority, as well as maintaining contact with former members across the country via a newsletter. Visitors and new members are always welcome. Come, join us!

Fidelis-Philathea

Sunday Morning Bilbe Study at Clarendon

Ground Level, Room G17
Since the early 1930's the Philathea Class has had its roots in Biblical study. When the Fidelis Class (organized in October 1946) combined with the Philathea Class in 1982 to form this women's study group, they continued to enjoy Biblical study every Sunday morning. The class motto is "Always Faithful and Lovers of Truth" and the slogan is "We are One in the Spirit." Fidelis-Philathea is currently studying the International Lessons.

Good News

1st Floor, Room 115
This diverse class is a discussion group which focuses on the Good News Bible and a broad range of spiritual and social issues. Good News has studied the Apostles, Jesus, and other religions. Lively discussion abounds as classmates enjoy each other's observations as well as guest lecturers. The Good News Class puts on its annual Ice Cream Social each summer on the church lawn with proceeds supporting Clarendon's ministries.

Logos ("The Word")

1st Floor, Room 20
This class discusses the lectionary scriptures on a weekly basis, focusing on the scriptures' meanings, how they relate or contrast with each other, and pondering possible sermon topics each week. The class occasionally chooses longer studies on a particular book of the Bible, and on other literature of interest to the class covering such topics as marriage relationships, prayer, and parenting.

Travelers

Locations Vary
This group mixes modern day Christianity with the study of current spiritual texts. The Travelers have enjoyed discussions on contemporary works such as F. Scott Pecks, "The Road Less Traveled," Marianne Williamson's "Return to Love," Stephen Covey's "7 Habits of Highly Effective People," and Eric Butterworth's "Finding the Power Within." This class meets on Sunday evenings at a member's home which generally begins with a potluck at 7:00 and study at 8:00. They are very good about finishing promptly at 9:00. If you are interested in this exciting and energetic group, please ask a Church member to direct you to a member of the Travelers Class. It'll be worth the journey!

Wesley Men's Class

2nd Floor, Administrative Work Room (south-west corner of the building)
"A class with a Passion, a Purpose, and a Program." This was the motto of Clarendon's men's class in 1911. The Wesley Men have long tradition of Biblical study and service to the church and community. The class is known for it's "lusty singing and good fellowship!" (Johnson p.65) The Wesley Men's Class is also currently studying the International Series for the next two years.

Weekly Readers

2nd Floor, Room 303 (left of the bell choir room)
Weekly Readers was formed when a group of adults decided they wanted to learn more about the Biblical basis of their Christian faith. We are "Weekly Readers" because each week we devote the Sunday School hour to reading from the books of the Bible. For as many weeks as it takes, we read and discuss each book in its entirety, with references to other books we have read. Each year at Christmas and Easter we break from whatever we are reading to study different dimensions of those stories. Our weekly readings and discussions are often challenging, but they always guide us as we explore our relationship with God. In May and June of 2007 we are studying the letters of Paul. Join us Sunday mornings at 9:45 in room 303 (from the South stairwell, take a U-turn at the first left).
